3 of my favourite flawless foundations for women of colour

Ever since I started wearing foundation at the age of 21, I have really struggled for years to find the perfect foundation for my skin tone. I guess what also didn’t help was the fact that I have a yellow undertone and most women of colour I know have red undertones so could make MAC work for them. In the early days I used to have to mix foundations to get the perfect tone but honestly that got really tiring lol. Unfortunately I don’t have that level of patience when it comes to make-up application; I just needed something quick. At some point I eventually found the perfect foundation which was actually by Maybelline but like with a lot of foundations for women of colour back then, it got discontinued so I was back to square one!!!!

Fast forward to today after much trial and error, I have finally found the perfect foundations for my skin tone and type 🙂 Horrraaaaaahhhhhhhhh.

So here they are:

Estee Lauder Double Wear:

This is my ultimate go to summer foundation especially as my skin tends to be very oily during the summer months. I was also definitely sold on the fact that it also doesn’t stain your clothes. I love wearing white t-shirts in the summer so the fact that my t-shirt remains white alone had me sold on this one.  The lady at the counter in Selfridges was able to match me to my perfect shade using their technology gadget which was great! Another reason I love this foundation in the summer is the fact that fact it lasts through heat, humidity and non-stop activity. I never have to worry about my face looking shiny no matter how hot I feel.

The current retail price is £33.50 and I buy mine from Selfridges

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation:

I almost gave up on this one but the truth is I was sold the wrong colour for starters. I usually like to go outside and look in natural daylight to check it matches as sometimes we are misperceived amongst all the beauty counter lights etc. and that’s exactly what happened. However I decided to give it another shot and am so glad I did. It is such a beautiful lightweight foundation. It gives you that nice natural look and glow and lasts all day.

The current retail price is £42 and I buy mine from Selfridges.

Doris Michaels:

I have to say this is one of my favourite foundations everrrrrr!!! I was so sceptical to try it initially as when I discovered it several years ago it retailed at £7.99. I immediately questioned why it was so cheap and was not really open to trying it out because I have sensitive skin and had never really come across this brand. After much convincing from the Doris Michaels make-up artists I decided to give it a go and here I am years later!  I especially love this foundation in the winter because my skin can be quite dry so it really keeps my skin moisturised and gives it a nice glow. I use a number 6 in their range.

The current retail price is £13.99 and you can purchase it via their website here
