Last Friday evening I attended the RVMG event celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Which took place at their office in East London.
Upon arrival we were greeted by these two fabulous women 🙂
The event featured three awesome female speakers and was hosted by MTV’s Mika Abraham.
And spinning the decks was international DJ and producer, DJ Cuppy who also recently released her first official single ‘Green Light’ featuring Tekno which I’m currently loving!!
All the women gave some great advice and shared their inspirational stories. Below are some key takeaways from the event:
- You don’t need a fashion degree to work in fashion
- Networking is key
- Familiarise yourself with who the key people in your industry are so you are prepared when you meet them.
- Takes risks and get out of your comfort zone
- Create your own opportunities
- Perseverance is key
Being a woman in business myself, I was definitely able to resonate with so many of the challenges they faced and still face whilst building their respective businesses. Running your own business involves regularly working really long ungodly hours and you do have to juggle so many hats especially in the beginning. I think my two biggest challenges have definitely been finding the right staff who are passionate and not just solely working with you for the pay check (I know , I know I’m asking for a lot but honestly when you’re a small business these things matter and are vital to your growth). My other biggest challenge has definitely been my inability to switch off. It’s like I’m in constant work mode which is why I love blogging on here #myescapism !!!!
I fell in love with their wall art <3
