Taiwanese designer Irene Shuang Ju Yu presented the new Spring/Summer 2018 collection from her womenswear label IRENE SJ YU during the first day of London Fashion Week.
Irene launched her label in 2015 after graduating from Central Saint Martins in London. Having a background in fine art, her work is often inspired by various aspects of art, music, religion, society and cultural environment at large. Her fundamental agenda is to contest the traditional notions of elegancy and beauty by creating an aesthetic of hero own. She expects her work to liberate the human body and bring out the character and personality of the wearer.
IRENE SJ YU embraces unexpected fabric combinations and versatile prints to create a dreamy and fun yet unconventional ensemble with a luxury streetwear touch as evident in her new SS18 collection. The models wore sunglasses by Black Eyewear (www.blackeyewear.com), exaggerated hoop earrings and had pointy brightly coloured nails with music playing in the background by music producer Yan Sheng Wen.
IRENE SJ YU has been featured regularly in publications such as VOGUE Japan, NYLON Japan, VOGUE IT, Harper’s Bazaar, NUMERO, Wonderland, Tatler and Metal, and worn by Sita Abellan, Brooke Candy and Jorja Smith.
